About
Wallace Ugulino began his doctorate in August of 2010, in the Department of Informatics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), and receives a scholarship from CNPq (grant 142916/2010-2). He earned the master's degree in Informatics in 2010 by the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), with a dissertation on the improvement of collaboration in business processes. He earned the BS degree in 2006 by Unigranrio, Information Systems area.
His doctorate research is about applying machine learning techniques to data obtained from sensors. The sensors can be wearable, tangible, or be fixed in the domo. The research aims at advancing the theoretical knowledge about the models to be used in tasks for classifying (or any kind of prediction) the data obtained from the sensors. From the lessons learned in this research, it is intended to develop embedded systems to improve a human colaboration that goes beyond the computer screen. Games for guiding museum visitation can be one of the applications to human collaboration.
In the museum project, the goal is to investigate how to improve the visitors' experience by suggesting games like "Role Playing Games" to create dynamics tours that promote discovery and informal learning to the visitors. At the same time, it is expected that the game makes possible to make a better use of the physical space of museums, since it's common to have unused spaces in the museums at the same time some spaces are crowded.
